
Crivitz, 19 July 2025 - Under the motto „Crivitz has heart“ a large-scale day of action to promote lay resuscitation and strengthen emergency care in the town of Crivitz took place on Saturday. In close co-operation with the Crivitz volunteer fire brigade, the NOFiAS e.V. association and with the active support of Definetz e.V., A varied programme was put together that not only provided information, but also actively encouraged participation.
The central element of the day was the ceremonial Inauguration of ten publicly accessible defibrillators (AEDs), which will be available around the clock at central locations such as the market square, the regional school, the sports ground and other meeting points. Crivitz is thus sending out a strong signal: The town wants to heart-safe and is playing a pioneering role nationwide.
Political support and promotion
Recognition also came from state politics: State Secretary Sylvia Grimm from the Ministry of Social Affairs, Health and Sport, presented an award during the event. Grant notification in the amount of around 12,000 euros, which is intended to further strengthen the local emergency infrastructure. Grimm emphasised the social importance of first aid:
„Every attempt at resuscitation can save lives. Knowledge and skills must be widely anchored in the population.“
Definetz e.V. as a partner for structure and visibility
The association Definetz e.V., Definetz, known throughout Germany for its work in the field of defibrillator availability networks and emergency location mapping, accompanied the event in an advisory capacity. Definetz supported the expansion of the network in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern with its expertise in the selection of locations, labelling and digital recording of AEDs. The aim is to make the devices quickly locatable for first responders and emergency services via existing mapping and emergency call systems.
Knowledge saves lives: Citizens actively involved
In addition to the technology, the focus was primarily on people: numerous citizens took part in free training courses on cardiopulmonary resuscitation took part. Rescue workers and volunteers demonstrated life-saving measures on training dummies and explained the use of defibrillators. The training sessions were aimed at adults, young people and children - because saving lives starts early.
Civic engagement meets prevention
